Thad Mauldin, Qualis Corporation Vice President/Chief Operating Officer, To Retire

Huntsville, Alabama, March 10, 2016 — Thad Mauldin, Qualis Corporation Vice President of Program Operations and Chief Operating Officer, will retire on March 11, 2016 after a long and distinguished career in the United States Air Force and private industry. As Qualis Vice President / Chief Operating Officer for 11 years, Mauldin was responsible for the oversight and leadership of more than 40 contracts supported by as many as 370 employees dispersed across the United States, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Kuwait.

Beyond that, his passion to engage in and serve his community is an inspiration to all who know him,” says Elizabeth Morard, Chief Executive Officer of Qualis Corporation. “It is a privilege to call Thad colleague and friend, and I am grateful for all that he has done for me over the years and what I have learned from him. I will truly miss Thad at Qualis.”
Prior to joining Qualis Corporation, Mauldin was Vice President, Business Development for Pace & Waite; Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of the U.S. Space & Rocket Center and U.S. Space Camp in Huntsville; and Huntsville Site Manager and Program Manager for PRC. Mauldin’s career includes 24 years in the United States Air Force, from which he retired in the grade of Colonel.
Mauldin, a native of Selma, Alabama, has a B.S. from the University of Alabama and an M.S. from the Air Force Institute of Technology. He was a proud member of the Million Dollar Band and continues to support the Million Dollar Alumni Band. He was an active member of Chi Phi social fraternity (serving as its President for two years), was selected for Pi Mu Epsilon Mathematics and Sigma Pi Sigma Physics honorary fraternities, and was elected as his college’s representative to the Student Government Association.
Mauldin is one of the founders of the Alabama Mathematics, Science, Technology, and Engineering Coalition for Education (AMSTEC), serving on the Board of Directors since its inception, and as the Executive Director from 2001 – 2003. Mauldin also served on the State of Alabama’s Science Course of Study Committee in 2000 – 2001. Mauldin currently serves on the Board of Directors for AMSTEC and the Sci-Quest Hands-On Science Center. He was formerly on the Board of the Women’s Business Center of North Alabama, Junior Achievement of North Alabama, and the Huntsville Rehabilitation Foundation, where he was Chair of the Planning Committee.
Mauldin met Gretchen Muth, his wife of 52 years, at the University of Alabama. They have three daughters, Kim, Kristie, and Karly, and five grandchildren, Liam, 19, Emma, 15, Aaron, 15, Caleb, 11, and Abby, 5. They also have two rescued Golden Retrievers.
