Huntsville, AL – Small Business Administration (SBA) Region IV Area Director Mitchell Morand presented Qualis Corporation located in Huntsville, AL, with the Administrator’s Award for Excellence. This award is tied to the SBA 2007 Region IV Subcontractor of the Year award, which Qualis received in Washington D.C. in April. To win this award, Qualis had to be the best subcontractor in an eight-state region: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Jacobs Engineering, a large prime contractor with offices in Huntsville, nominated Qualis for the award.
Qualis Corporation is a woman-owned, small disadvantaged business that employs more than 300 people and has 14 years of proven performance on more than 60 contracts supporting the US Army, US Air Force, NASA, major primes, and commercial customers.
While teaming with Jacobs on work at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in Huntsville and the Eglin Air Force Base in Ft. Walton, Florida, Qualis has become a multidiscipline, technical services company with expertise in engineering, operations, and support functions for defense and aerospace. At MSFC, Qualis engineers supports the design, development and testing for the Ares launch vehicles, which NASA will use to return to the Moon. At Eglin, Qualis is involved in all aspects of US Air Force weapons development. In January, Qualis won the prime contract for training and program activities of the Robotic Systems Joint Project Office at Redstone Arsenal. The contract with a value of $8M for the first year focuses on acquisition, logistics, and repair of robotic systems being used in Iraq and Afghanistan. Jacobs is the major subcontractor.
