Elizabeth Morard, President and CEO
Elizabeth Morard, co-founder of Qualis, serves as President and Chief Executive Officer. Morard is responsible for the overall direction, leadership and strategic planning of the company as well as day-to-day corporate management activities. Morard earned a cum laude Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and has a twenty-four year history in the aerospace and defense industry. Morard has been very active over a number of years in the local and business community and participates in a variety of community service projects.

Thad Mauldin serves Qualis as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Formerly a Vice President of Pace & Waite and CEO of the US Space & Rocket Center. Thad has a 35-year background in corporate and program management and business development in aerospace and defense.

Cathy Shields, Vice President, Business Development
Cathy Shields serves Qualis as Vice President, Business Development. With almost 25 years of business development leadership in both government and commercial industry, Shields is responsible for overseeing all business development operations of the company. Shields previously held the position of VP BD for Chickasaw Nation Industries / All Points Logistics, Inc., and prior to that led Boeing’s Florida Operations business development and commercialization activities.

Carl Engel, Vice President and
Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Carl Engel serves Qualis as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. Dr. Engel received his BS and MS from the University of Illinois in Aeronautical Engineering and his PhD from Louisiana State University in Chemical Engineering. He has 40+ years of experience in such areas as aerothermodynamics, thermal protection systems, combustion, and materials testing. He actively works on the NASA thermal panels for the Space Shuttle and the Ares 1 programs.
